Welcome to the first
volume of "I Am Starlight", a series of minimalism and/or
dronescape works. This installment focuses on black metal drones
and darker pieces largely sourced from single sound origins. Unlike
most blue :: infinite music we did not work on one another's pieces.
Tracks 1 & 3 produced, performed, and mixed by Terry Skaggs
in the Map Room.
Tracks 2 & 4 produced, performed, and mixed by Marc Nelson
at home.
Tracks 5 & 6 orginally recorded and performed by Steven Wilson.
Mixing and additional music performed by Terry Skaggs in the Map
Room.
All tracks mastered by Terry Skaggs.
Terry Skaggs - “Kukailimoku” (6:38)
Ukulele performance recorded on February 7, 2009. Mixed on February
14.
Marc Nelson - “Echoes Of Tikal” (10:14)
Recorded between March 7 and 11, 2009. The root drone is a processed
loop of the jets running in Marc's hot tub. Additional sounds made
with his guitar and e-bow, processed and ran through effects. Near
the end is sample of a clay mayan flute found on YouTube. The rhythm
track is a women talking about making love spells also found on
YouTube.
Terry Skaggs - “A Sea Of Iron Ghosts” (26:30)
19-second audio sample twisted, mutated, looped, and processed on
March 19, 2009. An experimental film was produced for this work:
Marc Nelson - “12 Modes For Silence In D Minor”
(9:07)
Recorded between March 1 and 21, 2009. Main drone is a 10-15 second
[uncredited] pop music sample. Synth sounds are Native Instruments
Massive. Other sound sources include recordings of an old alarm
clock and a pastry machine.
